Why long-lived LMS estates need attacking
We concentrate on what a student account reaches, because that is the credential an attacker will realistically obtain. Whether the REST API enforces enrolment on every call, whether assessment content is retrievable before release, and whether one student’s submission is reachable by another.
Building blocks are the Blackboard-specific concern. They run inside the application with its privileges, they are frequently unmaintained, and a vulnerable one is not sandboxed from the rest of the platform.

Do you test Blackboard SaaS or self-hosted?
Both. On the SaaS deployment we test your configuration, roles, integrations and data access. Self-hosted adds the application server and we scope that in where you want it.
Will you use real student accounts?
No. We use test accounts in test courses populated with dummy data. Real courses are touched only read-only and only with your agreement.
Are building blocks really a risk?
Frequently the highest one. They execute inside the application with its privileges and many are years past their last update, so a known issue in a building block is effectively a known issue in your LMS.
Can you test alongside our Canvas migration?
Yes, and it is a sensible time to do it. Migrations leave the old platform running with live data and live integrations for months, which is precisely when it stops being monitored.
