Dynamics 365 Penetration Testing
Dynamics holds your customer data behind a security model of roles, business units and teams that almost nobody fully understands. We answer the only question that matters: who can actually read what. CREST-certified testers, fixed price from £3,920, scoped in 24 hours.
- Unlimited retesting
- No rescheduling or cancellation fees
- Fixed quote within 24 hours
“I would highly recommend EJN Labs to any organisation seeking reliable, detailed, and well-managed penetration testing services, particularly for government or enterprise-level projects.”
“There wasn’t another company we could find that could deliver what we needed in the timeframe we needed. The client loved it, and we got instant ROI from the engagement.”
The Dynamics security model is genuinely powerful and genuinely difficult. Privileges are granted at user, business unit, parent-child and organisation scope, then combined across every role a user holds, and the effective permission is the union. Nobody reasons about the union correctly for long.
Why Dynamics is an access control problem
What we do is stop reasoning and start testing. Given an account in each role, we enumerate what it can actually read, write, share and export through the application, the Dataverse Web API and the OData endpoints, which frequently differ from what the role designer intended.
The Power Platform layer then widens it. Flows and connectors run with a connection owned by someone, often someone with far more access than the user triggering the flow, and Power Pages portals expose a subset of Dataverse to the internet.
ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials Plus audits accept manual penetration test evidence. Scan-only evidence is generally insufficient.
ROLES, DATAVERSE + CONNECTORS
What we actually pen test on a Dynamics 365 environment
Manual pen testing across security roles and business units, Dataverse access, Power Platform connectors and flows, portal exposure and custom plugin code.
Security roles and business units
Effective permission per role tested rather than read, privilege depth across user, business unit and organisation scope, team and access team membership, and the union of permissions for users holding several roles.
Dataverse and API access
Web API and OData endpoints tested against each role, whether record-level sharing holds, field level security enforcement, and whether a user can retrieve through the API what the interface hides.
Power Platform connectors and flows
Connection ownership and privilege, whether a flow runs with more access than its trigger user, data loss prevention policy coverage, and custom connector authentication.
Power Pages and portal exposure
Where a portal is in use, anonymous and authenticated web roles, table permissions, whether portal users can reach records outside their contact or account, and form and list configuration.
Plugins and custom code
Registered plugins, custom workflow activities and their execution context, whether any run in an elevated context with user-controlled input, and injection in custom code.
Integrations and data export
Dual-write and integration accounts and their privilege, export to Excel and report access, audit configuration, and what a compromised integration account could extract.
METHODOLOGY
Dynamics 365 Penetration Testing: From Scope to Attestation
CREST-aligned methodology built on OWASP Web Security Testing Guide, OWASP ASVS, NIST SP 800-115, and PTES. Each finding maps to all four standards plus your specific compliance regime.
Reconnaissance
Application mapping, technology fingerprinting, content discovery, parameter enumeration, authentication-flow analysis, role-matrix construction.
Vulnerability Assessment
Authenticated and unauthenticated automated scanning across every user role, plus targeted manual checks for known weakness patterns.
Manual Exploitation
Hands-on testing by a CREST-certified pentester. Business-logic exploitation, chained vulnerabilities, privilege escalation, impact validation.
Reporting + Retest
Executive summary, technical report with CVSS scores and reproduction steps, walkthrough call, free retest after remediation, attestation letter.
CREDENTIALS
Verified Accreditations Auditors Accept
Every credential below is independently verifiable. UK procurement teams, FCA supervisors, ISO 27001 / SOC 2 auditors, and cyber insurance underwriters all recognise these standards.

FAQ
Frequently Asked
Is this allowed under Microsoft’s rules?
Yes. Microsoft permits penetration testing of your own Dynamics 365 and Power Platform tenants within its published engagement rules, and we work inside them. We test your configuration and customisations, not Microsoft’s infrastructure.
How many accounts do you need?
One per security role you care about, ideally including a portal user and an account in a different business unit. The test is about boundaries, so we need accounts on both sides of each boundary.
Will you modify our data?
We work read-only against production by default. Where write testing is needed we use a sandbox environment or records you designate, and anything we create is documented and removed.
Does this cover Power Apps?
Canvas and model-driven apps built on the same Dataverse are in scope, because they share the security model. Standalone canvas apps with their own connectors can be included if you want them.
What do we receive?
A report mapped to ISO 27001, SOC 2 and GDPR where personal data is in scope, a technical write-up with reproduction steps, and unlimited free retesting.
