Microsoft Entra ID Penetration Testing
Entra ID is the front door to everything Microsoft in your estate. The findings that matter are rarely exotic: a conditional access policy with an exclusion group nobody reviews, and a service principal with more graph permission than any human. CREST-certified testers, fixed price from £3,540, scoped in 24 hours.
- Unlimited retesting
- No rescheduling or cancellation fees
- Fixed quote within 24 hours
“I would highly recommend EJN Labs to any organisation seeking reliable, detailed, and well-managed penetration testing services, particularly for government or enterprise-level projects.”
“There wasn’t another company we could find that could deliver what we needed in the timeframe we needed. The client loved it, and we got instant ROI from the engagement.”
Compromise one Entra ID account with the right role and you have Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, the Azure subscription and whatever else is federated behind it. That makes the tenant configuration more consequential than most of the applications it protects.
Why Entra ID is the highest-value target you own
Conditional access is where we concentrate, because it is almost always nearly right. There is a policy requiring multi-factor authentication, and an exclusion group holding the service accounts, the break-glass account and four people who complained. The exclusion is the finding.
The other half is applications. Consent grants accumulate, service principals outlive the projects that created them, and a single over-permissioned enterprise application can read every mailbox in the tenant without touching a password.
ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials Plus audits accept manual penetration test evidence. Scan-only evidence is generally insufficient.
CONDITIONAL ACCESS, CONSENT + ROLES
What we actually pen test on an Entra ID tenant
Manual pen testing across conditional access coverage, legacy authentication, application consent and service principals, privileged roles and the B2C flows where you run them.
Conditional access coverage
Every policy evaluated together rather than individually, looking for users, applications and platforms that fall outside all of them, exclusion groups and their membership, report-only policies never enabled, and whether the gaps are reachable from outside.
Legacy authentication and protocols
Whether legacy authentication is genuinely blocked, basic authentication endpoints, and older protocols that bypass conditional access entirely.
Application consent and service principals
Enterprise applications and their granted Graph permissions, user consent settings, service principals with credentials that never expire, and which of them could read mail, files or directory data across the tenant.
Privileged roles and PIM
Standing assignment of privileged roles, whether Privileged Identity Management is used and enforced, break-glass account protection, and what a Global Reader or Application Administrator can escalate to.
B2C and external identity
Where you run Entra External ID or B2C, the user flows and custom policies, self-service signup abuse, attribute manipulation and whether external users can reach internal resources through guest access.
Device and hybrid join
Device registration and join settings, whether a rogue device can register, hybrid identity synchronisation, and what the on-premises connector account can do in the cloud.

FAQ
Frequently Asked
Is this the same as your Microsoft 365 security review?
They overlap and complement. The Microsoft 365 review covers the tenant workloads: mailbox rules, external sharing, Defender policy. This one goes deep on identity: conditional access, consent, service principals and privileged roles. Many clients scope both.
Do you need a Global Administrator account?
No, and we would rather not have one. A Global Reader plus a couple of standard user accounts covers the review, and anything needing more we ask for specifically and in writing.
Will you trigger security alerts?
Some, deliberately, and that is useful. We agree a testing window with you and keep a log of what we did and when, so your SOC can correlate. If nothing alerts at all, that is itself a finding.
Can you test our Azure subscription too?
Yes, as a separate but related scope. Entra ID is the identity layer and Azure is the resource layer, and the interesting escalations run between the two. We can price them together.
What does the report cover for auditors?
Findings mapped to ISO 27001, SOC 2 and Cyber Essentials where relevant, written so an auditor can use them, plus a separate technical write-up with reproduction steps for whoever administers the tenant.
