NetSuite Penetration Testing
NetSuite runs the finance function, so the interesting attack is not a breach. It is an employee role that can approve its own purchase order, or a RESTlet that returns the general ledger to anyone with a token. CREST-certified testers, fixed price from £3,610, scoped in 24 hours.
- Unlimited retesting
- No rescheduling or cancellation fees
- Fixed quote within 24 hours
“I would highly recommend EJN Labs to any organisation seeking reliable, detailed, and well-managed penetration testing services, particularly for government or enterprise-level projects.”
“There wasn’t another company we could find that could deliver what we needed in the timeframe we needed. The client loved it, and we got instant ROI from the engagement.”
In a finance system the access control question and the fraud question are the same question. A role that can both create a vendor and approve a payment to it is a segregation of duties failure, and it is also exactly what an attacker who compromises that account would use.
Why segregation of duties is a security finding
NetSuite’s permission model is deep, and roles accumulate permissions over years of small requests. We test what each role can actually do, including through the paths people forget: saved searches that expose fields the form hides, CSV import, and the SuiteTalk and RESTlet interfaces.
Custom SuiteScript is the other half. Scripts frequently run in an elevated execution context to do their job, and one that accepts a parameter from the user and uses it in a record lookup will return records the user should never see.
ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials Plus audits accept manual penetration test evidence. Scan-only evidence is generally insufficient.
ROLES, SUITESCRIPT + RESTLETS
What we actually pen test on a NetSuite account
Manual pen testing across role and permission configuration, SuiteScript customisations, token based authentication, SuiteTalk and RESTlet endpoints and saved search access.
Roles and permission configuration
Every role tested for effective permission including transaction, list and setup permissions, restrictions by subsidiary, department and class, and segregation of duties conflicts across the roles a single user holds.
SuiteScript custom code
Client, user event, Suitelet and Map/Reduce scripts read and tested for elevated execution context with user-controlled input, injection in record lookups, and Suitelets reachable without authentication.
Token based authentication and integrations
Integration records and their permissions, token scope and rotation, whether an integration token exceeds what its purpose requires, and OAuth 2.0 configuration where in use.
SuiteTalk and RESTlet exposure
REST and SOAP web services tested against each role, RESTlet authorisation, whether an endpoint returns more fields or records than the calling role should reach, and rate limiting.
Saved searches and reporting
Saved search and report access, whether a search can expose fields restricted on the form, public search sharing, and export paths that bypass field level restrictions.
Account configuration and access
Password policy and multi-factor enforcement particularly for administrator roles, IP address restrictions, login audit configuration, and employee access after offboarding.
METHODOLOGY
NetSuite Penetration Testing: From Scope to Attestation
CREST-aligned methodology built on OWASP Web Security Testing Guide, OWASP ASVS, NIST SP 800-115, and PTES. Each finding maps to all four standards plus your specific compliance regime.
Reconnaissance
Application mapping, technology fingerprinting, content discovery, parameter enumeration, authentication-flow analysis, role-matrix construction.
Vulnerability Assessment
Authenticated and unauthenticated automated scanning across every user role, plus targeted manual checks for known weakness patterns.
Manual Exploitation
Hands-on testing by a CREST-certified pentester. Business-logic exploitation, chained vulnerabilities, privilege escalation, impact validation.
Reporting + Retest
Executive summary, technical report with CVSS scores and reproduction steps, walkthrough call, free retest after remediation, attestation letter.
CREDENTIALS
Verified Accreditations Auditors Accept
Every credential below is independently verifiable. UK procurement teams, FCA supervisors, ISO 27001 / SOC 2 auditors, and cyber insurance underwriters all recognise these standards.

FAQ
Frequently Asked
Is penetration testing NetSuite permitted?
Testing your own account’s configuration and customisations is. We work within Oracle’s engagement rules and do not attack NetSuite’s infrastructure. In practice almost everything worth finding is in your roles, scripts and integrations anyway.
Do you test in production or sandbox?
Sandbox for anything that writes, which in a finance system is most of it. We use production read-only for permission enumeration where you are comfortable, and agree the split before we start.
What about segregation of duties specifically?
It is a core part of the test. We map role combinations against the conflicts that matter in a finance context: vendor creation and payment approval, journal entry and reconciliation, customer credit and write-off.
How many accounts do you need?
One per role you want assessed, plus an administrator for enumeration if you are willing. The more roles, the more coverage, and the day count scales with it.
What do we receive?
A report mapped to ISO 27001, SOC 2 and your financial control framework where relevant, a technical write-up with reproduction steps, and unlimited free retesting.
