Why EKM findings sit in your installed features and connected apps, not the platform
EKM’s Feature Library lets a store owner install functionality like Customer Login, Discount Management and Gift Cards on demand, and several of them, Gift Cards included, are restricted to specific subscription tiers such as Standard, Advanced, Pro or Evolve. We test whether that restriction is enforced on the server or only hidden from the dashboard UI on a lower tier, and how each installed feature’s own logic, coupon stacking in Discount Management, balance handling in Gift Cards, behaves once it is live.
Checkout runs through configurable steps, including customer details, customer login and payment gateway selection, with optional age verification and consent steps that stores can add to that flow. We test whether those steps can be skipped or reordered from the client to reach order completion without passing through a step the store depends on. Payment methods span EKM’s own EKMPay embedded gateway alongside Klarna and PayPal Wallet, plus manual routes like bank transfer and purchase orders, and we test amount and status integrity across whichever combination your store has configured.
A store’s data also moves outward through apps that were never written by EKM: order and inventory tools such as Linnworks, StoreFeeder or EPOS NOW, accounting and automation through Xero and Zapier, and catalogue feeds into Facebook, Instagram and Google Shopping. We test what each connected app can actually read or change against what its function needs, and whether a feed intended for a marketplace discloses more than the marketplace requires. EKM also runs a published vulnerability disclosure process, and we confirm its current rules of engagement directly before any testing that touches a live store begins.

Tier-Gated Feature Enforcement
Features like Gift Cards and Customer Login are restricted to specific subscription tiers. We test whether a lower-tier store can still reach a gated feature’s underlying function directly.
Customer Login Accounts, Orders and Wish Lists
Customer Login lets shoppers create accounts, view and duplicate past orders and build shareable Wish Lists. We test for account takeover and for one customer reaching another’s order history.
Discount Management Coupon Logic
Discounts can be scoped to cart value, product count, specific products or returning customers. We test for stacking, reuse and scope bypasses that apply a discount outside its intended condition.
Gift Card Issuance and Redemption
Gift Cards require a third-party payment gateway to be installed and are tier-restricted. We test balance handling and redemption logic against the documented restrictions on how they can be used.
EKMPay, Klarna and PayPal Wallet Checkout
Checkout can run through EKM’s own EKMPay embedded gateway, Klarna or PayPal Wallet, alongside manual methods like bank transfer. We test amount and order-status integrity across whichever gateways your store has enabled.
Order and Inventory App Connections

Do you need EKM dashboard access to test our store?
We typically ask for owner-level dashboard access so we can enumerate installed Features, payment gateways and connected apps before testing. Exact access is confirmed during scoping.
Does testing touch live customer orders or payment data?
We test against a store you nominate, and agree data-handling rules with you before testing starts if it holds live orders or payment details. A cloned or Test Shop environment is often a good fit.
Does EKM have a policy on vulnerability reporting or penetration testing?
EKM publishes a vulnerability disclosure policy covering reports submitted through its published channel, including rules against destructive testing, denial of service and retaining more data than needed to prove an issue. We confirm current terms directly with EKM and agree exact rules of engagement during scoping.
Which subscription tier do you need for a review?
None specifically. We test whatever tier your store is actually on, including whether features restricted to a higher tier are still reachable from a lower one.
